Ford Motor Co. It is recalling about 1.9 million Explorer SUVs in the U.S. because the clips that secure the molding around the windshield could fly off, posing a danger to other drivers.
This was reported by CBS News, as reported by Ukrinform.
The recall covers Explorers from model years 2011 through 2019.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the clips that secure the molding around the windshield can become loose and fly away, increasing the risk of an accident on the road.
The recall began after U.S. regulators launched an investigation into the problem last January after receiving 164 complaints from consumers. Canadian regulators are also concerned about this flaw.
Ford initially denied the recall, citing the part’s low weight. But the company decided to recall the cars anyway after US regulators determined the problem could pose a risk to road safety.
Ford believes only 5% of recalled Explorers have this problem.
As reported by Ukrinform, Tesla is recalling more than two million vehicles after the US regulator detected a partial failure in their autonomous driving system (autopilot).
