The still unreleased Google Pixel 8a makes for a really surprising week in terms of leaks related to Google’s Pixel devices. As you may remember if you read us regularly, yesterday we recapped the tech company’s plans for the next generation of its smartwatch, the upcoming Pixel Watch 3, and a few hours later what could be the first leaked render that reveals very important aspects of the design as well of the yet-to-be-released Pixel 9 Pro in a design that will surely be shared with the Pixel 9.

Without any surprises, both devices (Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3) will be released in October, but we also hope that they will not be the only devices in the family that will undergo a refresh in 2024. I want to think, although it may not be the case, in mid-year we’ll see the arrival of the second generation of both the foldable Pixel Fold and the Pixel Tablet, which were introduced in May 2023, but what I have no doubt (apart from the extremely unlikely number one) is that Google I/or 2024, which will take place in May, It will be the moment chosen to introduce the Google Pixel 8a.

How do you know, Pixels NThey enter the market more or less halfway through the market life cycle of the generation to which they belong., and provide a somewhat cheaper alternative to the two models that make it up to this point. So, at the moment, the three latest terminals of Google are Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro (presented in October 2023) and Pixel 7a (presented in May 2023).

Well, as I hinted at the beginning, we already have more information about the model that will complement the current generation, the eight, and that user @chunvn8888 from Twitter has released two images of the Pixel 8a’s packaging, and in one of them we can see an image of its back, with an unmistakable main camera module. An image that shows us a design that is completely integrated into the paradigm of the generation 8, which, since it is continuous with the 7, also fits quite well with the 7a.

The main ‘difference’, which is actually small, is that the Pixel 8a’s corners seem slightly more rounded than the 7a’s, in the style of those on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, something that would confirm what we saw already in October last yearwhen the first render of the future 8a was leaked, the design seen now, along with the one shown in the leaked box image, seems to be consistent with the leak.
