The rapid development of new technologies with artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to an increase in the number of cyber attacks, which can now also be carried out

The rapid development of new technologies with artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to an increase in the number of cyber attacks, which can now also be carried out by less experienced hackers.

As reported by Ukrinform, Reuters quotes this with reference to a report by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), part of the Government Communications Headquarters of Great Britain (GCHQ).

“Artificial intelligence will almost certainly increase the volume and impact of cyber attacks over the next two years. But the impact on the cyber threat will not be equal,” the report says.

According to the NCSC, the biggest increase in opportunities in cyberspace will come from “adaptive hackers” who lack the necessary skills to carry out high-level attacks.

The report also suggests that at least the use of generative AI tools, such as chatbots, could help create more convincing emails or documents used in online phishing campaigns.

The NCSC adds that more skilled hackers backed by another government “may best exploit the potential of artificial intelligence in advanced cyber operations against networks, for example to create advanced malware,” referring to malware and computer viruses.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine has developed a guide for non-governmental organizations on artificial intelligence tools; This guide outlines the advantages and risks of using AI for the public sector.
