Ukrainian engineers have modified the DJI Agras T30 agricultural drone to solve military tasks such as identifying, tracking and destroying targets with a PKM 7.62×54 mm machine gun and a Bullspike-AT grenade launcher.
While upgrading the drone, engineers had to solve several technical challenges, such as maintaining the drone’s stability and balance during shooting, reducing recoil issues, and managing ammunition efficiently. These changes led to the development of specialized control systems and interfaces that will allow operators to effectively control weapons.
Originally DJI’s agricultural drone, the Agras T30 includes features such as 3D operation planning with a smart engine and branch detection technology designed to enable precise pesticide application and reduce losses. Offering different nozzle options and capable of handling different types of crops and conditions, this engine was likely modified to effectively manage the PKM’s rate of fire.
The Agra T30 has a reliable propulsion system, a top-view radar module, an intelligent endurance/return function and a maximum flight altitude of 4,500 metres. They are equipped with obstacle avoidance systems for greater safety and are equipped with removable batteries for greater convenience when performing agricultural or military tasks.
Armed with the Bullspike-AT grenade launcher, the Agras T30 will now be able to destroy a variety of targets, including tanks, self-propelled howitzers, armored vehicles and fortified positions. The launcher uses a 72.5 mm high-explosive PG-22 anti-tank missile with a base-burst point detonator that provides a self-destruct function with a delay of 3.5 to 8 seconds.
The total weight of the Bullspike-AT with the 72.5 mm PG-22 projectile is 3.4 kg, and the standard projectile has a cumulative warhead capable of penetrating up to 400 mm of armor. To ensure stable flight, the rocket is equipped with four tail stabilizers. Effective firing range up to 350 meters. The projectile weighs almost 1.5 kilograms and reaches an initial speed of approximately 133 meters per second.
The drone is also equipped with a PKM machine gun, weighs 7.5 kg and uses a 7.62×54 mm cartridge with an initial speed of 825 meters per second. It has a firing rate of 650 to 720 shots per minute. Magazine options include 100-, 200- or 250-round magazines.
