The enterprise technology giant was notified in December 2023 that “an attacker accessed and stole data from a small percentage of HPE mailboxes belonging to individuals primarily working in cybersecurity, starting in May 2023.”
HPE added that the company is investigating the breach, which it believes is linked to another incident that occurred in June 2023. The hackers were then able to compromise a limited number of SharePoint files.
The company is cooperating with US law enforcement.
HPE emphasized that the hackers’ activities did not significantly impact its operations.
