“Fortnite will return to iOS in Europe in 2024”. With this message, the American company announced this afternoon that the star title is returning to the platform, where it has been absent for almost four years. What allowed Epic to make this announcement are the changes coming to iOS.
Starting in March, Apple will allow developers to submit: Alternative stores for iOS. These will be a way for users to install apps without having to go to the App Store. Epic will open the Epic Games Store for iOS this year, and with it, ‘Fortnite’ will also come to iPhone.
As we see, in recent times the scenario has changed significantly. In 2020, Apple vetoed one of Epic’s flagship products, and now it’s seeing the game relaunch on its own platform, and it’s doing so with a third-party app store.
At this point, it should be noted that Epic does not have any other alternative to bring ‘Fortnite’ to iOS. Despite the changes Apple has introduced to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), no side loading As in Android, that is, it is not possible to install applications directly.
For now, we do not know exactly when the Epic Games Store will be available on iOS, but the developer company’s promise is that it will arrive in 2024. As for the court battle, Epic says it will continue to fight Apple in court.
