ASUS plans to release the second generation of the ROG Ally portable game console in 2024. This was shared by Arnold Su, head of ASUS gaming division in India, in an interview with Indian publication Techlusive.
“We will probably launch the second generation handheld game console this year”— said the ASUS representative.
He added that the new console will run on Windows. It is also planned to pay more attention to various gaming functions. Unfortunately, the ASUS representative did not offer any additional details about the future console.
Arnold Su said that the first generation ROG Ally console was sold around 70-80 thousand units in India. The main sales came from pre-orders. He added that with the growth of the gaming market in India, the demand for gaming laptops is also increasing.
“If you look at the segment of DIY computers (gaming desktops assembled with your own hands), this is a rather large part – about 1 million devices. But for branded laptops this is not such a significant figure. But for ordinary gamers, which can be used for everyday tasks increasingly favoring gaming laptops.”— commented Arnold.
He pointed out that laptop sales have already surpassed desktop gaming PC sales not only in India but globally. “Hardcore gamers still prefer desktops, but most casual gamers choose laptops”— said the ASUS representative.
In his meeting with Techlusive, Arnold Su also emphasized that the company will expand PC production in India this year. ASUS manufactured mostly non-gaming PCs in India until 2023. The company will start manufacturing gaming systems in India in 2024.
