Neuralink, a company owned by Elon Musk, was fined by the US Department of Transportation for violating regulations regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.

This was reported by Reuters after reviewing documents from the Ministry of Transport, Ukrinform reported.

It is stated that during inspections at Neuralink facilities in Texas and California in February 2023, inspectors found that the company was not registered as a dangerous goods carrier.

Improper packaging of hazardous waste, particularly flammable liquids (xylene), was also found.

The Department of Transportation fined Neuralink a total of $2,480, less than the original assessment, because the company agreed to fix the problems, according to the documents.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, which conducted the Neuralink investigation, confirmed the violation and imposed a fine, and also announced that the investigation was closed.

As Ukrinform reported, in September last year, Neuralink, Elon Musk’s startup developing brain chips, announced that it had started human trials of a brain implant for paralyzed patients.
