Maayan Sigal Korena relative of two hostages still held by Hamas said RFI What is your state of mind at that moment when there seem to be no options for a new exchange?

RFI: What is your state of mind at the moment, after the first hostage exchange two months ago, and when negotiations for a new exchange seem to be blocked?

We’re a little confused because Everything changes from one moment to another. Suddenly this news reminds us of a truce, but a few minutes later our Prime Minister says that this is not true, that there is nothing. It hurts us a lot because we have a lot of hope and the next minute it all disappears.

RFI: You were part of a group of relatives of hostages who stormed a parliamentary committee meeting in Jerusalem, demanding that lawmakers do more to secure the release of their loved ones. Can you tell us what happened?

We gather in the Knesset every Monday to talk about the problem of kidnapped people, ask everyone for help, and do everything possible to free them. And when we arrived that day, we discovered that there had been no planned conversation about them. Since the war began, there has been talk of hostages every week. This was the first day that I didn’t plan anything for them.

This made us a little nervous and we decided to find out why. We had signs on which we wrote that we could not sit and talk about other topics while our relatives were dying in Gaza. At first they let us in, but then they stopped us. Therefore, we decided to enter without asking permission, we shouted and asked to talk about the hostages and not about other things. I went with my mother, who was very excited and crying.

RFI: His mother, who was kidnapped…

Yes Yes. And that it was released. She will be with me everywhere asking them to help us, to do everything possible to free them, to sit down and negotiate, to try to conclude another truce.

RFI: What do you know about your relatives who are still in the hands of Hamas?

“We have two relatives left: my uncle and my mother’s partner. And no, we don’t know anything. They spent more days there without my mother, aunt and cousin, who were released on November 28.”

Almost 60 days have passed. And it’s terrible. Horrible. They were together for 53 days and they were alone for a few more days and we don’t know if they are together or separated, if they are in the same place they were with my mother, or if they have been moved. We don’t know anything, whether they are alive, whether they are injured, nothing. This is extremely difficult for us.

RFI: What are you asking for as a member of the Hamas hostage family?

I ask everyone who will read this, please help us, ask with us for the release of our family, so that there is not much time left and we are very scared and we are afraid, afraid that they will not come out of there alive. Please, we need help.
