South Korean Samsung Electronics Co., the world’s largest memory chip manufacturer, opened a research laboratory in the United States to develop a new generation of three-dimensional dynamic random access memory (DRAM).

This is reported by Yonhap with reference to sources, Ukrinform reported.

According to interlocutors, the laboratory operates under the leadership of Device Solutions America (DSA), which is headquartered in Silicon Valley and oversees Samsung’s semiconductor production in the United States. This company will also work on the development of an updated DRAM model, which will help Samsung become a leader in the world market of 3D memory chips.

In October, South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics Co. It announced that it has prepared new 3D structures for sub-10 nanometer DRAM that will increase the capacity of a single chip to over 100 gigabits.

Dynamic random access memory (DRAM) is a type of random access computer memory most often used as RAM in modern computers. The main advantage of this type of memory is that its cells are very tightly packed, that is, many bits can be packed into a small chip, which means that a large-capacity memory can be created on their basis.

As reported by Ukrinform, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra phones equipped with artificial intelligence tools in January.
