The Toyota company announced the suspension of supplies of some car models, including the Hilux pickup truck and Land Cruiser 300 SUV, after its subsidiary Toyota Industries discovered violations in the operation of diesel engines.
This was reported by CNN, according to Ukrinform’s report.
Toyota said this type of engine is used in ten car models worldwide, including the Hiace minivan, Fortuner SUV, Innova multi-purpose vehicle and the Lexus-branded LX500D SUV.
A special investigative commission found violations during output power testing for certification of three diesel engine models.
Toyota Industries said it sold about 84,000 cars with such diesel engines in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023.
The company said it would conduct new engine tests with regulatory authorities if necessary.
Japan’s transportation ministry will conduct the investigation at the Toyota Industries plant in Hekinan city in central Aichi Prefecture, where the company produces automotive and industrial engines.
As reported by Ukrinform, Tesla is recalling approximately 200,000 model S, X and Y cars in the United States due to software malfunction.
