Japanese automaker Toyota said it has halted production at four of its plants in the country after discovering what the company called “inconsistencies” in engine certification tests at one of the group’s companies.
This was reported by NHK, as reported by Ukrinform.
According to official representatives of the leading Japanese automaker, the company will stop production of products on a total of six production lines by Thursday.
On Monday, Toyota President Sato Koji promised that the company would strive to resume production as soon as possible and ensure certification procedures were properly followed.
It is stated that the inconsistencies in the tests are related to three types of diesel engines produced by Toyota Industries.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Toyota company announced the suspension of the supply of some car models, in particular Hilux pickups and Land Cruiser 300 SUVs, after its subsidiary Toyota Industries discovered violations in the operation of diesel engines.
