Extreme Networks is jumping on the Wifi 7 bandwagon with the introduction of an access point and a complementary switch.
Extreme Networks is launching two devices tailored to the new WiFi 7 standard. First and foremost is the Universal Access Point AP5020. This is a new access point that, in addition to the classic 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, also supports the 6 GHz frequency band according to WiFi 7. The device is designed for high traffic locations such as schools, hospitals and stadiums. The access point is compatible with 802.3bt PoE.

The access point includes new switches: the 4000 series. Two families appear in the portfolio:
The 4120The switch series features 24 or 28 ports of 1 and 2.5 GBe, 90 watt PoE across all ports, and four 10/25 GbE uplinks. There are also two 100Gb uplink/stack ports.
The 4220The series is available in variants with eight, twelve, 24 and 48 ports, with 1, 2.5 and 5 GbE. This switch also supports 90 watt PoE.
Extreme Networks sees the switches as useful components in the introduction of WiFi 7. Both the switches and the access point use the ExtremeCloudIQ management platform. This allows administrators to identify problems more quickly. You can also quickly roll out the switches via the cloud platform.
