Previous suspicions that Google Bard will not remain free have now been confirmed. If you want to use Bard Advanced soon, you will need a subscription. Bard Advanced is based on Gemini Ultra, Google’s LLM that can perform complex AI tasks. Google Bard is currently free to use, but that will soon change. Details about the price and release date are not yet known.

Bard Advanced was announced by Google in December last year. Using the Gemini Ultra as its engine, Bard Advanced will be able to more quickly understand and respond to various types of information in text, images, audio, video and code.

Worth the price?

Google isn’t the only company charging money for its AI tools. For example, OpenAI makes its most advanced version of ChatGPT and Dall-E available only to paying customers, and Microsoft is also doing the same with Copilot. It’s no surprise that Google also wants to see results from its investments.

By running Bard Advanced on Gemini Ultra, Google is attempting to emulate the success of ChatGPT. Therefore, the price is expected to be close to ChatGPT Plus, which is currently $20. It remains to be seen whether this is a fair price for Google Bard Advanced. Recent research has shown that Gemini is less powerful than the old ChatGPT. It is not yet clear what the final price will be and when we will be able to use Bard Advanced.
