“I met with more than 120 drone manufacturers. There will be more drones,” Fedorov said.
According to him, Ukraine has actually created a drone market from scratch in 2022.
“Now there are hundreds of companies here. This is the result of a consistent policy and market opening. The open market is a game changer and it is our conscious position to let everyone in and then create competition. That was the bet,” Fedorov said.

In total, there are more than 200 Ukrainian companies on the market that are interested in services and products in the field of UAVs or drones, Fedorov said.
“At a meeting with manufacturers a few days ago, companies emphasized that they need to scale up in 2024 because more drones are needed,” the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs said.

Most importantly, we now need to standardize the requirements, tactical and technical characteristics of drones. It is also important for manufacturers to understand that anticipating the contracts and the needs of the General Staff; on this We are also working.”
In the development of the Ukrainian “Lancet”, Fedorov highlighted priority UAV technologies, artificial intelligence for automatic target acquisition, guided munitions, targeting and shooting WEDs, anti-drone solutions, etc. he named it.
As the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized, “These are currently the most important tasks of the Defense Forces for manufacturers. We are also actively working on the development process of robotic platforms, munitions and electronic warfare – almost every week a new unit is being coded to NATO standards.”
He recalled that the military technology development cluster Brave1 was launched last year, supporting innovators, providing grants and helping with deployment and coding. According to Fedorov, there are plans to increase the grant amount to $ 200,000 so that the inventors can make a high-quality prototype.
“In addition to drone manufacturers, there were also main stakeholders at the meeting. I would like to thank Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, Head of State Special Forces Yury Myronenko, Director of the Defense Procurement Agency Maryna Bezrukova, Head of the Central Procurement Agency Maryna Bezrukova.” Fedorov emphasized that he thanked Pavel Pozdnyakov, Head of the General Staff’s Unmanned Systems Department, for the common vision.
