Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams can be used on Apple Vision Pro from tomorrow. As an extra, Microsoft also adds Copilot.

Microsoft announces the introduction of 365 applications on the Apple Vision Pro. In a blog, Microsoft shows how Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams present themselves on Apple’s new AR headset. According to Microsoft, this allows you to take your workstation with you wherever you go if you want.

With Teams integration, you can watch meetings with the Vision Pro on your nose. The video conferencing platform then creates a “persona” of you, a representation of your face that is as authentic as possible, so that your colleagues do not have to see that you are wearing the headset. So that you can work undisturbed, Microsoft is developing a special “focus mode” for Word. Of course, Copilot cannot be missed, which you can control with your voice.

Swearing in church

Using Microsoft applications on Apple hardware sounds like a curse in church, but the support of a major party like Microsoft is invaluable to Vision Pro. In order to be able to sell the headset, not only the hardware must be up to date, but the range of applications must also be sufficiently extensive. Microsoft 365 applications also have their own versions for iOS, iPadOS and macOS, so the extension to Apple Vision Pro makes sense.

Not everyone is equally enthusiastic about the Apple Vision Pro. Netflix and Spotify have decided not to join Apple’s AR story just yet. For example, Zoom is available for the headset.

The Apple Vision Pro will officially be available to the general public starting tomorrow, initially only in the US. More than 200,000 orders have been received since orders opened on January 19th. The glasses have a hefty price tag of $3,499. It is not yet known when and at what price the AR headset will come to Europe.
