UNRWA recalled that tens of thousands of people have been displaced south of the Gaza Strip over the past week, adding to the more than 1.4 million people who are overcrowded in Rafah, on the border with Egypt, where the majority live in “makeshift shelters.” structures” or in the open air.

In the Palestinian enclave, nearly two million people depend on UNRWA for their livelihoods as the agency runs overcrowded shelters, provides food and primary health care, among other things.
