OneDrive is an integral part of Microsoft’s strategy to persuade us to move everything to the cloud. The service has been with us for over 15 years – remember when it was called SkyDrive? — but for several months now, Redmondians have been preparing for a major revamp of the service.
This refresh (Microsoft is talking about the third generation OneDrive) was announced in October 2023 and A new design came to the forenew creative tools and of course Copilot integration.

However, what users will notice most is the design change, which is quite radical and will be available to all users at the end of February.
This design change now makes the interface much more user-friendly, as Microsoft explains More in line with the design and aesthetics of Windows 11. It also follows in the footsteps of redesigns experienced by tools in the Office office suite.
In this redesign we will find new elements such as: new look of our contacts —We can selectively find people with whom we share documents—as well as new file filters. With this option we can, for example, sort the files according to whether they are Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF documents.
We will also have an “Add new” button that will allow you to both upload a new document and create it directly with Office; this is something that improves on the previous behavior of splitting it into two different buttons.
These visual changes are, as we said, added to numerous in-house innovations; these include integration with Teams or New Copilot role in OneDrive. The chatbot will allow us to “talk” to our storage to find documents or provide options about what we already have in our storage (such as summarizing them).
