Shoppers enter a question via text or voice into the Amazon mobile app search, and a chat window appears at the bottom of the screen.
Users may ask, “What is the difference between treadmill running shoes and road running shoes?” They will be able to ask questions such as. or “Compare drip and geyser coffee makers.”
“Rufus significantly helps customers easily find and discover products that best suit their needs,” Amazon said.
The company added that the AI assistant uses Amazon’s product catalogue, its “customer reviews and Q&A” database and information from the web to answer users’ questions.
Amazon said it is currently testing the feature on a small group of users in the US, but the company plans to roll it out nationwide “in the coming weeks.”
