If a few weeks ago we repeated the beginning of the countdown to the forced deployment of the new Outlook, the application that will replace the existing email and calendar manager in Windows this year, there is a new nail in the coffin of this mess made in Microsoft, for which luckily there are alternatives.

This time we are talking about… advertising. Indeed, the new Outlook will contain ads, much to the chagrin of the user who doesn’t mind or won’t break the bank paying some sort of subscription, the only way to get rid of them. Those two – resignation or apathy and opting out – are the exceptions, in case anyone was wondering.

And isn’t it normal for free email services to display advertising, just like Gmail or Outlook on the web itself? The truth is no: only the big ones in the sector place ads of this type on their platforms, and by this type they mean as if they were emailsThat said, the new Outlook pushes the example further.

In particular, the new Outlook (it’s worth insisting on new, as Microsoft does to distinguish it from the usual Outlook, the service and web app that this new desktop iteration is actually based on) does two things at once. they are not usually used to, and the first of them is the incorporation of advertising into the application itself. Something, on the other hand, is increasingly common in Redmond software.

But the second one is even worse because the ad shows the new Outlook as sponsored messages will appear in each account that has been added, so the more accounts you use, the more ads you swallow. Yes, that’s what an app that claims to be a Windows email manager does. Never seen before, literally.

Of course, as with other messages, with which they are explicitly confused despite the small advertising identifier, ads can be deleted like any other message, although they will reappear without too much delay. How to get rid of them permanently? Pay with two subscriptions to choose from: one discounted 1.99 dollars/euro per month just to remove ads or Microsoft 365.

If you pay for the discounted subscription, yes, the only thing that will disappear will be the message ads. Or what is the same, the new Outlook will continue to draw on user data to serve targeted advertising in other media, which is one of the darkest points of the new Microsoft application, but not the only one, as we reported in the news that we mentioned at the beginning of this post.
