Producers will soon notice that the Reach and Engagement tabs in YouTube Studio analytics will be gone, replaced by the Content tab. Previously, these two tabs separated views, watch time, traffic sources, and other data about the channel’s content. However, the new Content tab will provide options to further break down the data by content type. Creators will notice the Videos, Shorts, Lives, and Posts tabs, which provide reach and engagement data that was previously indivisible.
Creators who want to keep unique data like they used to, the All tab takes care of that too. (The only caveat is that content-specific reviews are only available for videos created on or after January 1, 2022. However, YouTube emphasizes that no historical review data has been removed and can still be seen in the All tab. .)
The ability to separate content types in analytics is a big change for creators. Since some YouTubers have had success with, for example, YouTube Shorts, it makes no sense to compare the watch time data of these 60-second clips with long content that gives users many more minutes.
Strive to help content creators
YouTube Analytics product lead Robin Zuger said the move is meant to help content creators.
“We hope that by creating a Content tab and separating these formats in Analytics, our creators will have the information they need to customize the content plan that will best help them achieve their goals.“, – said the author in an interview with Mashable.
According to Zuger, the YouTubers who create on all YouTube video media are “multi-format creatorwill especially benefit from these changes as it will help them “better connect their community with the right content at the right time”.
“Being able to see and compare audiences for different video formats will help creators create content strategies that work best for their channel and community.“Zuger added.
