The Ministry of Digital Transformation stated that cybercriminals had no hand in the failure of the Diya application during the voting for the winner of the Eurovision 2024

The Ministry of Digital Transformation stated that cybercriminals had no hand in the failure of the Diya application during the voting for the winner of the Eurovision 2024 national election.

Olesya Lisovska, head of communications at the Ministry of Statistics, said this in a comment to hromadske.

According to him, the reason for the failure is the excessive number of demands from those who want to vote, which the system cannot cope with.

The head of the Ministry of Statistics, Mykhailo Fedorov, said during the voting that a record number of users were registered throughout the entire history of the project. Ukrainians made 15,000 requests per second (last year there were only 800 requests per second). That’s why a big queue formed.

The Minister noted that although the capacity of “Dia” increased 5 times compared to last year, there was 20 times more demand.

As of 11:30 a.m. on February 4, more than 426,000 Ukrainians voted for national election favorites on Diya. However, some users still report temporary crashes.

Due to the failure in Diya, the national election results will be announced on February 4. Voting is still open.

At 15.15 the TV channel “Soviet Culture” will re-show the finals of the national election with recording, and the live broadcast will start at approximately 19.05. At the same time, viewer voting will be closed and the winner will be announced.

This is already the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. The semi-finals will be held on May 7 and 9, and the final will be held on May 11, 2024.

The competition will be held for the third time in the city of Malmö in southern Sweden. Overall, this is the country’s eighth time hosting the Eurovision Song Contest.

According to the draw results, it was determined that the Ukrainian representative would perform in the first part of the first semi-final on May 7.
