MediaTek is reportedly planning to challenge Qualcomm by offering Samsung a discount on its chips for use in affordable phones. While Samsung is unlikely to opt for the Dimensity 9400 in its premium Galaxy S series due to its existing deal with Qualcomm, new rumors suggest that the Korean tech giant may consider using MediaTek chips in its more affordable smartphones.

If this potential deal goes through, it would be a big win for MediaTek, considering Samsung is the world’s largest Android smartphone maker. Word of this came from a reliable informant revegnusThe person who wrote on X/Twitter that MediaTek offers special pricing on Samsung-specific processors.

These processors are said to be used in Samsung’s budget smartphone lineup, possibly in the entry-level models of the A, M and F series. However, the mid-range A and M series smartphones seen recently may still use Exynos processors. Comparison sites state that Exynos chips are used in future A and M series smartphones.

Currently, Qualcomm has a strong position in the high-end smartphone market. However, MediaTek dominated the budget segment. Now if MediaTek manages to convince Samsung to use its processors for affordable phones, Qualcomm will face a big challenge to beat MediaTek in this particular market.

Moreover, the partnership with Samsung will not only increase MediaTek’s market share but also open new opportunities for future collaborations with Samsung. But keep in mind that these are just rumors and Samsung has not confirmed any plans to use MediaTek chips in its smartphones. If there is a new development, we will definitely inform you about this issue.
