First human mission Mars the story is getting closer and closer and some of its details have already been revealed. In the last week NASA shared what he is going to do on a trip to the red planet, which will be attended by four astronauts – two of them will set foot on the surface.

To solve problems such as the difference in gravity between the spacecraft that will take them to the star and their own, the agency will force the crews of the next missions to use pressurized rovers. Not only to overcome the gravitational change, but also to prepare the members for the long journey, which should last 500 days.

Other obstacles are high financial costs and the maximum development of all technologies that are already being worked on. In a video posted by NASA on YouTube, the agency’s director of space architecture Kurt Vogelexplained how the training would take place, and also highlighted the other objectives of the mission, 50 objectives in total.

“We want to maximize science,” he commented. “So we want to let them prepare themselves enough to put on space suits, walk around and maximize science in 30 days.”

Spatial “housing”

To take astronauts to Mars, it is necessary to use a spacecraft that has characteristics similar to habitat or even housing, on a hybrid rocket that will be powered by chemical and electrical propulsion. Upon arrival, two will descend to the surface, while the other pair will maintain contact with the mission control center.

Of course, they will not arrive on the planet “empty-handed.” NASA intends to send about 25 tons of materials and technological devices, including a fueled ascent vehicle, for use in orbit – as part of a mission with robots and probes.

In June, the agency will hold a workshop with scientists and prominent US industry representatives who will be invited directly by them. Shortly thereafter, in July, another event with the participation of international organizations will be planned.
