Synology BeeStation is a new external storage device from the NAS specialist. It is intended for a home environment and allows create a personal and private cloud under your absolute control and with a simple and fast start-up.

You already know that Synology is one of the world’s largest NAS specialists, offering an extensive product catalog to cover all needs, from large corporations to home environments. In recent years, it has expanded its range to include routers, hard drives, SSDs, surveillance cameras, as well as external storage units like this one.

BeeStation is a new addition to the brand’s product line, so private cloud storage be available to all people, especially those who want simplicity and ease of use. With BeeStation, backup, management and file sharing operations are possible for any type of user regardless of their skills, do not require registration costs and offer maximum control over personal data.

The unit follows on from the Synology BeeDrive concept, which we had the opportunity to analyze. The brand uses its extensive experience in storage and networking technologies to design a device halfway between external storage and cloud storage services with which centralize and simplify backup tasks and data management.

The device includes a hard drive with 4 TB capacity– Enough space to store work documents, personal files, photos and videos. It’s very easy to get started and create a personal cloud in minutes. To install, just scan the QR code and connect the necessary cables. It has a PC app as well as a mobile phone app to manage and access files from anywhere, just like we would when working with public cloud services.

As with NAS with the free DiskStation Manager operating system, software is the unit’s strong point, as Miguel Zaldívar, Iberia Marketing Director at Synology, explains: «BeeStation integrates essential backup and file management functions into an easy-to-use device, used with software that offers a more intuitive and accessible experience for all types of people».

Synology aims to cover all members of the family by creating private storage facilities for each of them, respecting everyone’s privacy. In addition to its own storage on the internal drive, the new device can make automatic copies from connected external USB drives, as well as to and from major cloud services such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Dropbox. And all this in a simple way without the need for network knowledge.

BeeStation will be available from March 6, 2024 on Synology’s web portal and dedicated retail channel. Its retail price will be 300 euros.
