Cisco, together with Nvidia, is proposing some reference designs to support the rollout of AI clusters. The collaboration between the two also continues, with GPUs in Cisco servers and software support.

These days, no tech event seems worthy of the name if there isn’t a moment to celebrate Nvidia. This was also the case at Cisco Live in Amsterdam, where the network specialist presented some joint solutions with Nvidia in relation to – how could it be otherwise – AI and ML.

The two parties provide reference designs for various scenarios. The FlashStack AI Cisco Verified Design goes into detail about deploying networking and GPUs alongside Flash from Pure Storage, and the FlexPod AI Cisco Verified Design does the same but for NetApp. More verified designs with Nvidia’s seal of approval will follow in the future.

UCS

Cisco also announced that Nvidia’s latest Tensor Core GPUs are now available in the M7 generation of Cisco UCS, which also includes the Nvidia AI Enterprise software stack.

The Unified Computing System is a modular system with space for different servers. This will enable Nvidia (PCIe) GPUs to support AI workloads and training.

Cisco will show at the event that, like other manufacturers, it has developed deep integration with Nvidia across its entire portfolio. If you want to build an AI cluster around Nvidia GPUs, you should contact Cisco.
