How do you convince the most stubborn Windows 10 users to switch to Windows 11? Microsoft is now trying full-screen advertising and multiple click-through banners.
Microsoft would like to see all Windows users switch to Windows 11, but the reality is that two out of three still stick with Windows 10, according to figures from Statcounter. Microsoft’s attempts to expand Windows 10’s market share are becoming less and less subtle. Windows Latest recently noticed full-screen displays for Windows 11 in Windows 10, and it’s not the first time Microsoft has done this.

The ads suddenly appeared after installing an “optional” update that Microsoft released on January 24th. In the ad, Microsoft tries to appease users with a free upgrade and convince them that Windows 11 offers a better user experience. As if a full-screen display wasn’t enough, users have to click through four times to continue working.
My fault
We doubt that such bullying will achieve its goals, even though Microsoft is known for its fairly aggressive marketing. However, the software giant also has to accept that the introduction of Windows 11 never gained momentum. Due to the strict and not always clear system requirements that Microsoft sets for installing Windows 11, many PCs have fallen by the wayside.
In addition, Windows 10 currently offers you a well-secured and functioning operating system. Copilot is also no reason for an upgrade, as the AI assistant was surprisingly rolled out on Windows 10 at the end of last year. This won’t last forever.
Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 in October 2025. From then on, switching to a newer version of Windows is required unless you pay extra for extended support. Then Windows 12 could already be out and Windows 11 threatens to become an anonymous intermediate phase.
