Authorities in the Colombian city of Medellin discovered on Saturday the remains of a 20-year-old girl in a suitcase who has been missing for ten days – the murder of a woman, in which a foreigner who left Colombia is suspected, but whose identity has already been established.

Victim, Laura Isabel Lopera reported missing on Jan. 31 when she was last seen in the La Aurora neighborhood of Medellin and her body was found at a home in the Boston area, police said.

“What sadness and pain the knowledge of yet another femicide causes. The victim is Laura Isabel Lopera, barely 20 years old,” Medellin Mayor Federico Gutiérrez wrote on his X account.

The President added that “The killer is most likely a foreign citizen. It has already been identified. He left the country yesterday,” and he hopes that with the help of the prosecutor’s office and the police, “an arrest warrant will soon be issued and put into effect through an Interpol circular.”

Although Gutierrez said that the identity of the foreigner has been established. He did not give his name.

The Lopera case occurred after discoveries of other bodies in the Medellin metropolitan area and that they were obviously victims of femicide.
