Lenovo may want to unveil a laptop with a transparent OLED screen under the ThinkBook banner at MWC in Barcelona.

These days, laptops come in all sorts of flavors and colors. Lenovo wants to add another version: a transparent laptop. Of course it’s not completely transparent, the technology isn’t there yet, but there is a transparent screen.

The news isn’t official, but according to Windows Report, Lenovo plans to show the laptop to the world at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of February. Lenovo often uses MWC to promote specific technologies. A prototype of a laptop with a rollable screen was unveiled last year. The height of the screen can be almost doubled at the push of a button.

The new transparent OLED screen design is new to a laptop, but has been around for some time. At the beginning of the year, LG announced another TV model for customers with very large budgets at CES.

In the leak we see images of a borderless design that you can see through. This allows you to see the touch keyboard and some of the components underneath when closed.

Why is this useful? It seems like a lot of muscular effort to get attention, but it works. This leak actually takes the wind out of Lenovo’s sails. It remains to be seen whether this exotic version of the Lenovo ThinkBook will ever be available in stores.

The Mobile World Congress begins on February 26th in Barcelona and lasts four days. We won’t have to wait long to find out more about this special device.
