As reported by Ukrinform, Meta’s head, Mark Zuckerberg, announced this on Threads.
“Today we’re doing a little testing (features – ed.) of the most popular topics in Threads in the US. We’ll make it available in other countries and languages as soon as we get it set up,” he wrote.
Engadget notes that the feature will display “current topics people are talking about” and will appear in searches and among posts in the “For You” section of the app. Specific trends “will be determined by AI systems based on what people are talking about in Threads.”
Interestingly, Threads will also cover trends related to politics and elections. As recently as last week, the company announced that it would no longer feature political content in its recommendations.
However, Meta confirmed that these restrictions will not apply to the Trends feature.
“Political content may be a trend. We will only remove political topics if they violate our community guidelines,” a Meta spokesperson told Engadget.
According to Ukrinform’s report, Meta company deleted the Facebook and Instagram accounts of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
