The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has decided to postpone the launch of the new H3 launch vehicle, scheduled for February 15, due to worsening weather forecasts at the spaceport site in the southwest of the country.

As reported by Ukrinform, Kyodo News.

According to JAXA, the new launch date for the H3 rocket, the successor to the current H2A main rocket, has not yet been determined.

The new rocket has an improved firing system and will carry two microsatellites as well as a mock-up satellite whose weight corresponds to the weight of the real one.

It was stated that during its first launch last March, the H3 rocket took off from the spaceport on Tanegashima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, but was ordered to self-destruct a few minutes after its second stage engine failed to ignite.

As reported by Ukrinform in January Japan launches rocket with government satellite For intelligence gathering to monitor the movement of military installations in North Korea and improve disaster response.
