“It is with great pain that I inform you that among those killed in the shooting that occurred yesterday at the Mount Eden subway station in the Bronx was a compatriot from Tehuacán, Puebla,” Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena wrote on social media.
The shooting, which also left five injuredoccurred at a designated station in Bronx County at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time.
According to local media reports, fatal shooting victim, 34 aged, died after arriving at the hospital.
The New York Police Department told media Monday that the victims, including those injured, range in age from 14 to 71.
Authorities have not arrested anyone for the incident, but it is believed that the shooting occurred due to a fight between two groups of teenagers, which led to the death of a Mexican man from a stray bullet.

The NYPD said it was searching for three men suspected in the shooting.
The fight began with a verbal altercation on a subway car shortly before 5 p.m. Monday and quickly escalated, police said.
