South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance said this year the country will introduce cloud services using domestic quantum computers and begin test flights of urban air mobility

South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance said this year the country will introduce cloud services using domestic quantum computers and begin test flights of urban air mobility (UAM) vehicles in Seoul.

As reported by Ukrinform, Yonha reported this.

These plans are part of major projects where the government is encouraging the development of advanced technologies in the country.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the government will launch cloud services based on 20-qubit quantum computers for the public in the second half of this year.

By 2026, the government will begin developing technologies for a more advanced 50-qubit computing system.

In the next-generation mobility sector, the government plans to start flight tests of UAM vehicles on the waterway connecting the Han River and the Yellow Sea from August.

Such trials in Seoul and surrounding urban areas will continue until June 2025, as the country plans to launch commercial services early next year.

As reported by Ukrinform, Austrian startup FlyNow Aviation is developing the eCopter, an electric air taxi with vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL).
