Fujitsu relies on AI. The Japanese company explains its strategy for the near future and is already introducing a number of innovations into the portfolio.
Fujitsu shares details of a new company-wide AI strategy. The company wants to position itself as an innovative and reliable partner for customers interested in artificial intelligence. The focus is on secure implementation of AI tailored to the needs of specific companies.
“Customers don’t ask what they can do with AI, they come to us with a business case for which they are looking for a solution,” says Ichiro Auyagi, co-head of Uvance at Fujitsu. “Our knowledge of specific industries such as manufacturing is an additional strength.”
Data Intelligence PaaS
Specifically, Fujitsu is bringing its Data Intelligence PaaS into the Fujitsu Uvance portfolio. The Platform-as-a-Service serves as the foundation for AI services tailored to vertical markets such as manufacturing or healthcare. The platform also includes consulting services for AI and related technologies. Fujitsu Intelligence PaaS receives integration with Fujitsu Track and Trust. This is the company’s blockchain solution that enables customers to track and validate data across companies and industries.
“If you don’t have the right data, AI won’t work well for you,” says CTO Vivek Mahajan, explaining the combination. “Most companies have problems with their data.” According to Fujitsu, the combination of AI and blockchain ensures that the data behind the AI models is more reliable and therefore the predictions of these models.
Fujitsu also announces that it will continue to commercialize its Kozuchi platform. The Kozuchi Project provides a component platform that enables companies to quickly deploy and test AI technologies. The platform consists of two main layers: AI core engines that drive intelligence, for example for image generation or facial recognition, and components that include concrete applications, for example for detecting suspicious behavior or automatically generating advertisements.
Own LLMs
No AI strategy today is complete without a component of generative AI, and Fujitsu is also focusing on this with its brand new AI strategy. The company previously developed a Japanese language LLM on its Fugaku supercomputer and now the technology specialist says it is also training LLMs for code and image generation. These models would be more reliable than what is on the market today.
Both the data intelligence PaaS and the announced integrations will initially appear in Japan and will hit the global market in April. Fujitsu will also make the new LLMs available around the same time. These will be accessible via the Fujitsu Research portal. It also includes a new generative AI trust technology based on the combination of AI and Fujitsu’s graph technology. This is to help determine the reliability of the data.
