Google has a tool dedicated to providing cleaner, more enjoyable reading on Android phones; This is especially useful for simplifying the experience across web pages and different sites. But it’s the same vehicle You can also read the text displayed on the screen out loud.but it doesn’t work everywhere.
This reading modeAs Google calls it, it is available in Chrome for Android, but now you can also read emails and even posts on different social networks. The update is now available and we have tested it.
Listen to your emails as if they were voice memos
Sometimes listening to something is much more comfortable than readingespecially if you are, for example, driving or walking and wearing headphones. For example, you can listen to that long email you received and need your attention as soon as possible, like a WhatsApp voice memo.
This is possible with Android reading mode. This is an application that, in principle, aims to offer greater accessibility to users who need it. But we can all reap the benefits.. As I mentioned a few lines ago, we can reproduce the content of a web page instead of reading it, if the situation requires it. Do you want to listen to the analysis of a mobile phone like a podcast? You can do it in Chrome.
Additionally, the latest update to the reading mode also allows you to play back emails and posts from social networks like X (Twitter) or Facebook in audio format.
To access this function only necessary install reading mode app From Google Play Store. If you’ve already installed it, you don’t need to do anything as Google performs the update on its own servers.
When you access an email or social media post, you can activate the reading mode using the corresponding gesture or using the dedicated button (more about this below); The screen shows a plain text version of the post or publication. Below the text is a button to start playing the audio. Equal It is possible to adjust the reading speedand the time required to read this text is shown on the screen.
If we click on the gear-shaped button we can access the reading mode configuration options, including the possibility of changing the font, size, color and line spacing.
We can also add one shortcut to reading mode directly in quick settings panel of your mobile phone. To do this, simply swipe your finger twice from the top of the screen and press the pencil-shaped button to arrange the icons in the quick settings panel and add the one for reading mode.
But this is just one way to use reading mode: it is possible to configure a movement a combination of two-finger swipes or two-button presses from the bottom of the screen. To configure the reading mode shortcut we need to access the accessibility options of the device:
- Go to the mobile settings menu and then the section Accessibility
- In this section you can configure the reading mode or “Reading mode” (found in the installed applications section on most mobile phones)
- Select the type of shortcut we want to use to activate reading mode
Reading mode still not working perfectly while reading emails and social media posts out loud. There were some errors during my testing, especially when trying to read posts with social media apps.” It can also fail when it comes to emails, but in most cases it was able to read my emails without any problems.
