Publisher will no longer be supported by Microsoft as of October 2026. According to Microsoft, most of the functions are already distributed in the Office suite.
Anyone who still uses Publisher today can gradually prepare for the next step. According to Microsoft, there are more modern ways to create publisher scenarios today.
On the support page, Microsoft explains the elimination of Publisher: “Common Publisher scenarios, including creating professionally branded templates, printing envelopes and labels, and creating custom calendars, business cards, and programs, are already available in other Microsoft 365 apps like Word available.” and PowerPoint. There is also a wide range of customizable templates on Microsoft Create.”
Starting in October 2026, Publisher will disappear for those who have a Microsoft 365 subscription. Until then, you can continue to use the existing experience. After the deadline, the application disappears.
Organizations using Office LTSC 2021 will receive support until October 2026. From then on, Publisher will continue to work there, although it is no longer supported by Microsoft.
