Wife of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Yulia Navalnayasaid today that President Vladimir Putin and his circle will “pay” for the death of her husband in an Arctic prison in Russia.

“This is terrible news that we receive, news that we only receive from official media. For many years now (…) we have been unable to trust either Putin or his Government. They lie constantly. But if this is true, then I would like Putin and everyone around him – his government, his friends – to know that they will be punished for what they did to our country, my family and my husband,” Navalnaya said.

“They will be held accountable and that day will come soon,” he insisted in a brief statement on Security Conference in Munichwhere he received support in the form of applause from those present.

Navalnaya called on the international community and all people in the world to ask for unity in the fight against the “evil” that represents Vladimir Putin.

We must unite and fight this evil. We must fight this terrible regime in Russia. This regime and Vladimir Putin must bear personal responsibility for all the atrocities they have committed in our country in recent years.

Last December Alexey Navalny was transferred from a prison in the Vladimir region, less than 200 kilometers from Moscow, to Arctic Circle Prisonnear the Ural Mountains, where he died, according to the prison service.
