Naturally, our television with Android TV or Chromecast with Google TV are perfect allies for the most avid consumers of streaming platforms. This includes me, who spends several hours a week consuming Netflix, Prime Video content… and Twitch. I confess myself as the biggest fan of Rubius, Auron, Xokas and friends.

Not that I can watch all the broadcasts (Who has time for that?) But I can watch them for long periods of time where I can entertain myself and disconnect from daily life. Of course, like most users, I used the platform’s official app, which is complete and web-like. But over time, I began to find a number of disadvantages along with annoying. bug, They drove me to exhaustion. The frustration ended when I found the ideal solution: A better app than the original.

My problem with the Twitch app on Android TV

I’ve traditionally used the official Twitch app on both mobile and Android TV, my new Chromecast, and of course my consoles. To access a platform I usually do this: use your own app. And with exceptions, it really is the best option.

In this case, my problem isn’t the ads or even the chat, as it sometimes is on YouTube. The official app met my expectations. After a while, my special enemy arrived, an annoying bug This, in addition to desynchronizing the audio and video, makes it impossible for me to watch streams (even VODs) in 1080p.

The problem started with the Xbox app, which is beside the point, but over time I’ve noticed that Chromecast suffers from the same issue. I dug deep into the internet to find a solution, and even found other users experiencing the same problem. Nothing forced me to figure it outdon’t switch routers, don’t reestablish connections, don’t reinstall the app, nothing.

Twitch App Android

That’s when I looked for an alternative, the perfect solution I would say: forget the official app Breakthrough with an application developed by third parties. I tried a version changed From Twitch, Xtra (I didn’t like the one on TV) and a few others whose names I don’t remember. In the end, the winner was the one with the most “common” name: S0undTV.

This is the Twitch I always wanted

More control over current playback, ability to remember different points in a recording transfer or VOD content, hide chat, change quality without delay… S0undTV is the best way to enjoy Twitch on a TV or box with Android TV.

Now I have it installed on both the TV and the Chromecast I usually carry around the house. I don’t think I’ll go back because it gives back. better experience than the official one. HE bug What I had is gone, but as I said, that’s not the only thing I gained.

S0undtv 1

To check out its advantages, just download it from Play Store. Although the interface looks less coherent, I find it much more practical, the chat works perfectly even with BTTV emojis, there is a PiP mode, Preview This allows me to view one transmission while I review the rest… Simply amazing.

As if that wasn’t enough, it’s amazing. customize chatWith filtering options that allow me to avoid malicious comments, although one of its most useful features is its local VOD history: it works like YouTube, remembering every piece of content I’ve watched and dropping me as soon as I stop playing.

S0undtv Settings

The rest is the same as the official one, there is an option to follow users and categories. My streamers don’t forget about notifications when connected and it supports themes that give it a different feel. If you’ve read this far, I invite you to allow yourself to be caught up in its possibilities. This is the Twitch I’m looking for for my Android TV. I forgot: completely free and ad-free.
