During tests that involved repeated folding and unfolding cycles for an undetermined (but apparently significant) period of time, Samsung Display panels malfunctioned and broke. Moreover, one smartphone broke after a few days of testing.
Based on the results of the tests, Apple concluded that it is too early to release a foldable iPhone. And the Samsung example is especially meaningful here: Samsung has long been Apple’s display supplier, and if the company is seriously engaged in creating a good smartphone, then the first contender for the role of display supplier will be Samsung Display.
