As Ukrinform reported, SpaceX sent the Odysseus landing module, built by private American company Intuitive Machines, to the moon on Thursday, February 15.
Odysseus is expected to land near the moon’s south pole on February 22, becoming the first private spacecraft in history to land on Earth’s moon.
12 cargoes were placed on Odysseus. Six of them, including the laser reflector and radio devices, belong to NASA. The devices are designed to collect data to help NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to build a habitable base near the Moon’s south pole by the end of this decade. The rest is owned by various private clients.
