Last Thursday, in a special edition of the platform’s podcast, Xbox execs officially announced something that had previously been leaked, namely that some games that have been exclusive (Xbox+PC) will soon be making the jump to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. An announcement that, before it was made, was intended to be truly transcendental. And yes, I said before it happened, because when it was confirmed, and as I mentioned at the time, it was somewhat disappointing.

Personally, I find the idea sensational. Although I understand your reasoning, as someone who likes games and not platforms, I don’t like exclusives and so onI welcome any move by Microsoft and Sony to expand their reach. So far, moves along these lines, and Microsoft is much more active in this, have involved porting games from their respective consoles to PC, but this points to a revolution. And if Nintendo joined, they would celebrate by uncorking a bottle of cava, but that seems impossible.

Team Xbox though He told us there would only be four at this point exclusive titles that will make the leap to other platforms, and to top it all off, They didn’t even tell us what games they would be. And they emphasized that there are no plans to apply this measure to other games at this time. In other words, this is a small experiment to see if its results warrant a move in that direction.

What games will jump from Xbox to PlayStation and Switch?

Although, as I say, Xbox hasn’t confirmed the names of the four games, there are several sources point to the same listwhich consists of:

  • Grounded
  • HiFi Rush
  • Pentiment
  • Sea of Thieves

There are four good games. I’ve played three of them (I miss Hi-Fi Rush) and loved them all. It is a varied selection of titles that have individuality. However, many of us expected a plan like this to start with a little more ambition (and a little more courage, I add). In recent weeks, there has been talk of Starfield moving to the PS5, which would show confidence in a plan that aims to change the rules of the market forever.

I don’t miss the fact that Microsoft is playing a lot with such a movementand even more so considering how ambitious their plans are for the next generation. Would the arrival of any relevant exclusivity for the current generation have a negative impact in this regard? I feel the impact would be minimal and on the other hand Xbox would play a significant role in more than desirable market adjustment. With more steps missing in this direction, we can’t expect a response from either Sony or Nintendo at this point, and that’s a shame.
