A Haitian judge has charged Martine Moise, the widow of former President Jovenel Moise, and 50 people in his inner circle with complicity, criminal association, armed robbery, terrorism and murder as part of an investigation murder occurred in July 2021 at his residence and left a power vacuum, which aggravated the turbulent political and economic situation in the country.

The former caretaker prime minister also stands out among the accused. Claude Josephh, former Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Renald Luberis, former Minister of the Interior Hardouin Zéphirin, Moïse’s former security chief Dimitri Erard and his former security coordinator Jean Lagel Civil, published by Gazzete Haiti.

Judge in the case Walter Wesser Voltaire, ordered the arrest and imprisonment of them all; It should be noted that among the accused there is no opponent of the former president.

At the end of January, Voltaire had already issued an arrest warrant for Moise’s widow in the same case. Martine Moyse was at the couple’s private residence with their two children when a group of armed men broke into the house and shot and killed the then-president of Haiti. The woman survived and was flown to the United States for treatment.

Martine Moïse, little inclined to speak out or show signs of life, on December 7, 29 months after the death of her husband, launched a publication on her social networks in which she argued that “the murderers (…) feel that Their reign of impunity and untouchability seems to be approaching by the end”.

On July 7, 2021, about twenty people broke into the home of the then President of Haiti, where they met little resistance from security, killing Moise and wounding his wife Martine Moise. Following the assassination of Moses, the power vacuum exacerbated the country’s turbulent political and economic situation amid a security crisis, with daily killings and kidnappings.
