If you want to future-proof your home or office, choose the Netgear Orbi 970 series with Mesh WiFi 7 connectivity. The new set is available now.

After the official announcement last year, the Netgear Orbi 970 series is now available in the Benelux. At the proud price of 2,399 euros including VAT, only the set with a router and two satellites is initially available. In return, you get three WiFi 7 compatible systems that Netgear says can each cover up to 220 m².

The central device, the router, has two 10 Gbit/s Ethernet ports and an integrated switch with four 2.5 Gbit/s ports. Each satellite has a 10 Gbit/s connection and two 2.5 Gbit/s ports.

Theoretically, the solution can deliver Wi-Fi speeds of up to 27 Gbit/s:

  • 11,530 Mbps over the 6 GHz frequency
  • 8,647 Mbps over 5 GHz-1 and 5,765 Mbps over 5 GHz-2
  • 1,147 Mbps over the 2.4 GHz frequency

Each system contains 12 antennas to process all of these frequencies and get as close as possible to the theoretical maximum.

Netgear is not the only manufacturer working with WiFi 7. Acer, MSI, TP-Link and Ubiquiti, among others, presented their routers at CES 2024. 2024 will be the breakthrough year for new wireless technology. Be sure to read our complete WiFi 7 guide to familiarize yourself with the new technology.

We still have to wait a while for devices that can also use WiFi 7 effectively. They already exist here and there, such as the OnePlus 12 and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Laptops with the latest generation of Intel chips announced earlier this year, the so-called AI PCs, also often have WiFi 7 on board and are gradually becoming available. However, you will first have to wait until the major Windows 11 24H1 update in April to be able to use Wifi 7.
