Uber said its Uber Eats business is partnering with Mitsubishi Electric and robotics company Cartken to start delivering food with autonomous robots in Japan.
“This collaboration marks a leap forward in reimagining the future of food delivery, making it more affordable and sustainable for consumers in Japan,” said Anjali Jindal Naik, co-founder and COO of Cartken.
Uber Eats has announced that it will be Japan’s first overseas location for autonomous food delivery. Before this, such deliveries were available in only a few cities in the United States.
Uber Eats is also currently working with robotics companies Motional, Nuro and Serve Robotics as part of autonomous delivery pilot projects in other US cities.
As reported by Ukrinform, Canadian startup LoopX.ai has developed a GoosEx robot that will deliver food to students on the University of Waterloo campus.
