The network specialist Ubiquiti presents the UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra and the associated PoE Switch Ultra.

Ubiquiti is launching two new matching devices: the UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra and the Switch Ultra. The UniFy Cloud Gateway Ultra is a wired router. The device has four GbE RJ45 ports and one 2.5 GbE RJ45 WAN port. This makes the router only suitable for scenarios where 1 GbE over the entire connection line is sufficient: fine for most scenarios, but not really “ultra”. Power is conveniently supplied via a USB Type-C cable.

The Gateway Ultra runs the UniFi Network Suite. This operating system allows detailed management of an entire Ubiquiti network infrastructure. The device includes features such as an application firewall, IPS, IDS, app and device identification and more. There is a small screen on the front of the device that displays key status updates, such as the feed rate and the number of connected devices.

PoE switch

The Gateway Ultra does not have onboard Wi-Fi connectivity. For this you still need to buy an access point. Ubiquiti has many options in its own ecosystem and of course hopes you choose them. An access point immediately occupies one of the rapidly shrinking RJ45 ports. Maybe that’s why Ubuiqiti is launching the PoE Switch Ultra along with the Unifi Gateway Ultra.

The switch has eight GbE RJ45 ports, seven of which provide Power over Ethernet. This is useful, for example, for network cameras, which it is no coincidence that Ubiquiti also has in its portfolio. The switch itself can receive 42 watts via PoE++ and thus comes to life. The output ports provide power via the PoiE+ standard (16 watts).

Both the Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra and the PoE Switch Ultra are available now. The switch and the gateway each cost 91 euros without VAT.
