Xiaomi has introduced its latest utility, Xiaomi PC Migration Assistant, in China, designed for seamless data transfer between computers. This new tool includes QQ and WeChat chat logs, browser bookmarks, etc. It promises a convenient one-click experience to transfer critical data such as data at speeds up to 90 MB/s.
PC Migration Assistant is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit operating systems and requires the former to support a 5G wireless network card. Although it offers wide compatibility, Xiaomi states that perfect support cannot be guaranteed for PCs from other Xiaomi brands.
Users can expect a simple migration process with the ability to choose the destination path for moved files on the new computer. By default, files will be moved to their original paths to maintain familiarity and ease of access.
The tool supports the migration of a wide variety of data types, including files, applications (with support for major browsers such as Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, as well as QQ and WeChat), and some system settings. However, it is important to note that migration is not supported for directories such as program files, system directories, system management sections, virtual memory files, and shortcut files.
For optimal performance, Xiaomi advises users to minimize the presence of other wireless devices running nearby, place two computers closer together, and close other running applications during the moving process. If users are having difficulty connecting old and new devices, they are recommended to restart the devices or connect to Wi-Fi.
In the event of a failed migration, the tool provides detailed feedback, allowing users to identify and resolve issues related to file access restrictions, application download requirements, or incompatible system settings.
