Solid-state memory prices have been rising since October and rose by 8.87% sequentially in December last year, breaking the downward trend that lasted several months. With all this, the largest memory manufacturer Samsung Electronics considers it necessary to continue reducing NAND production volumes to further stabilize the situation in the market.

This was reported by the South Korean publication The Chosun Daily, citing representatives of the semiconductor industry. Samsung’s NAND memory production capacity is currently only 50% occupied, and the company does not find it necessary to stop reducing the production volume of such products under current circumstances. According to Samsung representatives, the path followed to reduce flash memory production volume has not changed for now.

The problem, as experts explain, lies in maintaining the high concentration of server system owners in acquiring the components needed to increase the performance of artificial intelligence systems. These primarily include HBM and DDR type memories, computing accelerators and central processors.

Drivers for modernization of the server park are now purchased on a permanent basis. In fact, many companies abandon solid state drives in this case and prefer slower but more capacity hard drives on magnetic plates.
