The Long March-5 Y7 launch vehicle carrying the spacecraft was launched at 19.30 local time (13.30 Kiev Friday time) from Wenchang Cosmodrome on the southern island of Hainan.
According to Chinese media, the satellite is called TJSW-11 and was developed by one of the research centers of the Chinese State Rocket and Space Corporation CASC.
This spacecraft is planned to be used to test multi-band and high-speed satellite communication technologies.
Long March-5 is the largest launch vehicle in China, capable of carrying 32 tons of payload to low Earth orbit. The current mission was the 509th flight of the Long March launch vehicle series.
