Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955; So, if he hadn’t died in 2011 at the age of 56, today would have been his 69th birthday.

Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple in 1976 to produce the first Apple computers, which revolutionized personal computers and created one of the most famous commercial versions in Macintosh history in 1984. He was kicked out of the company after just one year. but he returned in 1997 when Apple acquired Jobs’ next company, NeXT, to serve as the future foundation of the Mac operating system.

Jobs’ return to management and Jony Ive’s leadership of a team that created iconic design after iconic design gave Apple new momentum. The duo oversaw not only the renaissance of the Mac, but also the creation of a number of other revolutionary products and services, including the iPod and, of course, the iPhone. Under Jobs’ leadership from 1997 until his death from cancer in 2011, Apple transformed from a company on the brink of bankruptcy into one of the world’s largest technology companies.
