Other luxury electric cars under the Yangwang brand will be introduced in China later this year, including a luxury sedan priced at around 1 million yuan ($140,000).
Yangwang currently has one production model: the luxury SUV U8, which costs 1.1 million yuan. As of the end of January, the company delivered 3,653 cars.
BYD surpassed Tesla in the last quarter of 2023, becoming the world’s largest electric car seller.
Although it is known for producing affordable electric cars, the company also sells its luxury models under the Yangwang and Fang Cheng Bao brands.
According to Ukrinform, BYD will establish a facility for electric vehicle production in Mexico.
